Rowing across the Atlantic – Ebb and Flow – “The World’s Toughest Row”

The worlds toughest row 01

The “Ebb and Flow” team, with Crew Ed Dewer, Sally Percival-Foy and Julie Blowers rowed the Atlantic, finishing in Antigua on the 8th February 2025.  Last March they gave a talk to us on their proposed adventure.

The Ebb and Flow crew finally made land in English Harbour, at the finishing line in Antigua on Saturday 1.45pm our time. The jubilant trio had travelled 3,000 miles across the Atlantic in their rowing boat “Ebb & Flow” after leaving La Gomera in the Canary Islands on 11th December 2024. There were many problems on the way that tested them to the hilt, but they dealt with what was thrown at them and rowed on even though they had to manually steer most of the way, as their autohelm failed to work, due to a faulty solar panel which did not give sufficient battery power.

It took them 59 days to complete the course. There were blistering hands, sore bums and general fatigue, as well as running out of gas. So all food was eaten cold. However, they laughed a lot and used their tambourines to raise their spirits. Lots of wild life, including friendly whales, flying fish and birds. We welcome Sally and Julie to our next luncheon on Friday April 25th to tell us of their incredible journey.

Here’s the team approaching the finish line in Antigua.
